Being a judge at a cannabis competition is a wonderful opportunity. We want to share this opportunity with as many people as we can. The first DC Grower’s Cup had 23 judges, but the second one had more than 50 judges for the whole event. To make sure that every entry gets a fair and thorough evaluation, we ask all judges to complete an online certification course. This course aims to bring more consistency and credibility to the judging process. We understand that judging cannabis products is subjective to some extent. After all, everyone has their own preferences.
There is a non-refundable $75 registration fee for this course. Successful completion by May 15, 2024, will qualify you to judge in this year’s competition. You will judge one or more categories. While we would like to satisfy everyone’s requests to judge the category of preference, we cannot guarantee that will happen. There will be a maximum of 10 judges in each of the 4 flower categories and 10 Concentrate judges. Flower judges will receive a one-gram sample of each entrant in the category and Concentrate judges will receive 1/2 gram of each entrant. Edible judges will receive one serving of each entrant. We cannot guarantee the total number of entrants in any category. If we don’t qualify enough judges, you may be asked to judge entrants from more than one category.
The Certification Process for the 10th Annual DC Grower’s Cup will open soon. You must first pay the $75 fee for the Judges Certification Course. You will receive instructions on how to access the course via email. Certification exam must be completed with a minimum passing score by 12 pm May 15, 2024 to qualify. Applicants failing to qualify will receive a complimentary Judge’s Packet. All sales final.
